Welcome to a new series of Behind The Sound on the BMW M235i! This car has arrived with us with NO SOUND, so we're fixing the problems, and getting the car sounding great! Want to win a Playstation 5 and Audison Amp? Make sure you enter our HUGE 10k giveaway! • Видео This BMW M235i has been brought in to us with a big problem: it has NO sound. The customer believes water damage has stopped the Harmon Kardon system from functioning, so has brought the car to us to investigate the issues and get the car sounding great once again. BMW 1 and 2 series cars have very limited sound systems, with only a few small speakers fitted into tight locations. This Harmon Kardon specced car has a center speaker on the dash, a tweeter in each door, as well as a 4" mid range speaker. There is then a small 8" compact sub underneath each seat, and small rear speakers to complete the system. Harmon Kardon also has a basic amplifier in the boot. Diagnostics of the system including continuity tests and audio diagnostics confirmed that the Harmon Kardon amplifier was the issue in this case, so we are removing the amplifier. However, to get the sound system sound as good as it deserves to, we are actually upgrading the amplifier with an Audison AP8.9F, as well as an Audison Prima direct-fit replacement component set, to upgrade the power output and clarity possible in this system. A full sound off video will be live soon showing you the difference between the factory components and the Audison upgrade, showing you exactly why an upgrade is essential, even with the Harmon Kardon system fitted into the car! The Audison AP8.9F amplifier is an 8 channel amplifier that allows us to run 130w per channel to speakers, for a huge power increase over the poor quality Harmon Kardon amplifier. This compact class-D amplifier also has 9 channels of processing power, to let us tune and set up the entire upgraded system, including the customers own Active Sub, to make the most of the new components. The Audison Prima range is designed as a direct-fit replacement for different manufacturer vehicles, in this case being a BMW set. The components have been designed to be a perfect fit for BMW factory locations, and even utilise factory plug inputs to allow the system to be set up with ease. In this particular case, to run the system fully active we are actually running new connexions cables to the front end components so they can be powered individually instead of utilising the out-of-the-box Audison Crossover. The Audison Prima set is being installed as a COMPONENT set, which is when separate individual speakers are installed to focus on different frequency ranges for audio playback. A CO-AXIAL speaker is a 2-in-1 speaker design, where a tweeter is built in to the housing of a larger speaker, to allow one location to play a greater frequency range. We are also adding in soundproofing to the vehicle within the front doors and the boot area. Soundproofing does 3 key things; Creates a much better environment for speakers to operate in Reduces rattles and resonations from factory materials Reduces road noise heard within the car. All of these factors combined make for a much better listening experience in the cabin, and allow you to maximise the impact of an upgraded sound system. Soundproofing the boot is especially important in this case, due to the large subwoofer installed by the customer, so the bass doesn't just cause rattles! Thanks for watching our video.
