"BUDDY BASS with BERT" BKFT Team Kayak Bass Fishing Tournament (Team "Fish On! is back!) Cowan Lake

This is the second year that I teamed up with Bert Guthaus for the Buckeye Kayak Fishing Trail (BKFT) Buddy Bass 2-person online team event (we are team "Fish On!"). They give you the choice of 5 different lakes all around Ohio, and we chose Cowan (mostly because we didn't want a long drive home at the end...this is a 16-hour long tournament!), and the event runs from 6:00am-10:00pm. Each team is judged on their best 5 fish, and each person much submit at least 1 fish towards that total. I was getting a little stressed when I hit hour 10 of the tournament and still had zero fish on the board to help our team, but Bert let me know he had found a pattern, I went and joined him, and we ended up having a great last 3 hours. We finished 14th out of 43 anglers, which was an improvement from last year, though we were disappointed to have not found the really big bass. We were on the water for 15 3/4 hours, I paddled 7.8 miles, and caught a total of 8 fish. Check out Strictly Sail & Kayak if you are in the market for your own kayak!
