Queensland to begin ‘cultural safety’ directive to abolish merit-based public service jobs

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the Queensland public service is introducing “cultural safety” as a new directive to abolish merit-based appointments. “Agency heads have been told to … ensure that recruitment process are conducted in a culturally safe way,” Ms Credlin said. “In other words, bad references, or a history of disciplinary action such as being fired from your old job will now be handled differently on cultural grounds. “With special mention made in reports of Indigenous applicants, remember these … are taxpayer funded jobs in the public service.
