Dacre Rally: The Longest Day

One heck of a day!! A lot of notes for next year. I was about 47km from finishing the full 750km course but had a few mechanical issues with the bike. The main point being that the battery wasn't charging enough ( even with a 200w stator) to keep the headlight on at low rpm. So stalling in the technical rocky sections meant push starting the bike, which is hard when your stuck going up hill. I wasn't sure if there were other riders close behind if i needed a hand or some light. (forgot to bring a flashlight.) Also phone charger on the bike stopped working, so that meant phone was dead so no SOS or emergency calls. The Canadian forest is very dark at night, there was absolutely no light making it down through the trees. Its very peacefully and quiet, but the timing wasn't best when trying to finish up 20hrs on the bike. It truly was my longest day on a bike, lived up to its reputation. Only 11 months till the next try. 00:00 - start 4:00am 02:53 - Treeees down 07:15 - Rocky stream 6:42am 08:05 - Sxs following 09:15 - First water crossing then Mike/Marcin 7:11am 10:21 - Scenic forest road. 8:45am 10:51 - Scenic lookout 9:00am Canadian Shield 12:54 - Road cruising canada, lake view 9:51am 14:03 - Snowmobile trail more lakes! 10:20am 15:39 - Muddy rocks and questionable puddles 12:23pm 18:38 - 12:26pm Bike pass, fast forest roads. 19:54 - Lunch stop 1:00pm 20:51 - Cool Canadian lake town! 2:03pm 24:17 - Grown over a bit, some small trees down 3:03pm 26:16 - Medium pace 2 track cruising 3:19 30:39 - almost missed turn Can-cruising 3:51pm 32:05 - Water crossing denial. 5:16pm 33:36 - Kinda stuck in puddle 34:18 - passing sxs and then some quads 5:50pm 39:05 - beautiful dogs. 6:06pm 40:21 - I smell a couple SXSs ! 6:18pm 42:29 - Multilevel lake. Sketch bridge 7:45pm 43:58 - questionable mud holes 50:01 - Starting to get dark again 8:53pm 51:05 - 9:00pm update, questions.. 52:52 - Sketchy downhill rocks in the woods in the dark 9:20pm 54:48 - Bear/deer report 10:21pm
