In this video, I'll give you an easy guide on the best way you can inlay gemstones in your treasures so you can sell them for a good prize in Resident Evil Remake 4. 0:00 Intro 0:13 Treasures 101 0:45 Inlay gemstones guide 1:07 Gemstones Bonuses Explained 1:51 Gemstone color 2:12 Optimal gemstone usage 2:36 Elegant Crowns 3:05 When to use and sell gemstones 3:33 More RE4 videos! For starters, all your treasures will be available in the 2nd tab of the menu, the one with the little key on it. There are 3 kinds of treasures: gemstones (which can be 1 of 5 different colors and either 2 different shapes), normal treasures, that CAN'T be inlaid with gemstones, and the "special ones", which can be inlaid, and doing this, will bump their value significantly. You can quickly identify any of these special treasures by the silhouettes of the gemstones on the lower part of the treasure icon. So, let's get our hands dirty. You have some gemstones and a treasure to decorate with them. What do you do? Select the treasure you like, then the "Inlay Gemstones" option, and you'll come to this screen where you can start doing the inlay process. You can inlay and remove any gems at any time unless you sell the treasures where you will lose them forever. The trick here is to correctly select which gems to inlay by taking a look at the Gemstone bonuses chart, this is a kinda hidden menu right here beneath the gemstones. If you open it up, you'll get this very amusing chart with tons of colors and values. To break this down in a simple way: The more gemstones you inlay, the higher the value of your treasure, and depending on the number of gemstones that can be inlaid in your treasure, you always want to go for the most valuable combination to get the biggest bonus. So, if you have a 5-slot option, you should try to do Five Colors instead of a Quintet. If you have a 3 slot option, go for the trio instead of the three colors. Also, the color of the gems that you use is very important: It's not the same to get a trio of yellow diamonds, which are 7,000 pesetas apiece, as a trio of rubies, which are valued at 3,000 pesetas each; affecting the overall final prize of the treasure. So far, very easy, right? But, the only rule I would like to throw in the table here is that you should only do this without compromising other gemstone combinations for other pieces. So, if you have a trio of rubies, but this will break the Five colors for a bigger piece further down the line, you should maybe reconsider which one is best for you. But, how long should you hold onto the higher-value gemstones? During my first playthrough of the game I managed to find almost every single treasure in the game (except for 2 of them in the castle) and the most valuable I could find was of course the Elegant Crown, the only one to have 5 slots, which can be sold at a maximum prize of 100,000 pesetas. The locations of the 3 elegant crowns in the game are the following: in the Audience Chamber in Chapter 9, the depths in Chapter 10, and the wharf in Chapter 13. So, as a general rule of thumb, if you're aiming to get the 300,000 pesetas in your playthrough, you should always aim to keep at least one gem of each kind by the time you reach chapter 9 and can find your first crown, up to Chapter 13 where you can find the last one. After that, do whatever you want with your gemstones so you don't miss any of the gear or upgrades for your weapons by turning them into cash. And that's it! That's the basics of using gemstones in Resident Evil for Remake so you can get a ton of cash and surprise your buddy the merchant at the same time.
