A video of me creating a Wireless Multi-Room Whole home audio system using Apple Airplay 2. Equipment Needed: -Must have a router capable of a good WiFi signal throughout your house -Apple Airport Express for each room you plan on adding a speaker (MUST be 2nd generation) -Any powered speaker of your choosing that has a 3.5mm AUX in jack. Tip: When looking for a speaker you want to make sure it doesn’t have an Auto-off feature. You won’t want to have to run around your house turning all your speaker back on before you play music. -3.5mm audio cable - Male to Male Setup: -Plug in your speaker and turn it on. I set the volume to about 80% on my speaker so if I accidentally turn my phone volume all the way up I don’t run the risk of blowing a speaker. -Plug in Airport Express and setup as shown in video. -Connect the airport express to powered speaker via 3.5mm cable and that’s it! Answer to common questions: -You can use Siri to control the system. I can say ‘Hey Siri, play jazz in the kitchen and dining room’ and it works. Or I can say ‘Hey Siri, play jazz everywhere’ and it activates all the speakers. -You can play different things on different speakers. I can play my Jazz in the office with the door closed and my wife can play her music in the rest of the house. -If my wife is playing songs from her iTunes or Pandora off her phone, I can see what’s playing and still skip/pause/play/go back from my phone through the music widget in the control center even though I don’t have any of her music on my phone. -I’ve been asked if there’s anyway to set a delay, I haven’t found any yet, though I’m not sure why you would want to when they are perfectly in sync as they are.
