*SUMMER 2020 UPDATE* So about 60 days after using the Wilfa, it stopped pumping water. The pump turned on, but no water was going through the brewing process. A bit of Youtube research reveals that there's a filter in the water line that can get clogged. I disassembled and discovered the filter had a few grounds in it, but that wasn't causing the blockage. That water line filter is located before the heating block. I discovered some grounds stuck in the water tubing located AFTER the heating block. The solution was to apply some back pressure and the grounds came out of some of the tubing I disassembled. The reason the grounds got there? My only guess is that the coffee filter is too close to where the hot water comes out of the to of the machine. When you have the filter basket full of grounds and the grounds bloom, the grounds actually touch the water spout, so I'm guessing they got backlashed into the machine. I solved the problem, but unfortunately I can't recommend this machine because it's just a poor overall design. And their support is basically worthless. Wilfa told me to contact the seller - the seller gave me a refund, but did not replace the machine. ORIGINAL POST: OKAY OKAY, so I don't talk much about the Bonavita here. I used Bonavita for YEARS (since 2016) and loved how simple those coffee makers were, but they moved from cone filters to flat bottom. I sold the thing for like $10 on eBay, and then it got damaged when I shipped it out to this guy "Bob" - I'm pretty sure he's still using it in it's damaged state. Anyway, this video is about the WILFA WSP-1B! I saw the Wilfa Precision brewer pop up on eBay for around $100 and it intrigued me. After waiting a few months I purchased one, and this is my experience with it. Listen - I'm not a coffee scientist - I'm one of those dudes that scientifically "feels" things out. Coffee geeks are going to super dislike how I talk about brewing coffee because my terminology and measurements are TOTALLY loose. I roast my own beans with a Behmore roaster in my Man Cave - I like FRESH, STRONG coffee, and yes, I use cream (no sugar - why would you ruin coffee with SUGAR?!) Anyway, if you don't mind my casual take on making super fancy coffee in my own way, I think you'll enjoy my video. I watched a few other reviews about this coffee maker and they sounded too "sponsored" and lacked real-life detail. I'm a full-time wedding photographer, but with Coronavirus knocking around and screwing up the event industry, I had a bit of time to put this together. Also - messy kitchen, kids underwear on counter, sink full of dishes, and theres a random banana ready to get blended. And my wife is super lovely. Anyway - enjoy!!!
