7-year-old dies in Lorain house fire

There are many heavy hearts in the Washington Avenue neighborhood in Lorain, after a seven year old girl died in a house fire early Sunday morning.A first grade girl, who is a classmate of the seven year old girl who died in fire, left a stuffed panda on the stairs of the burned out house Sunday afternoon in memory of her friend, along with so many other kids who did the same thing in memory of the little girl who neighbors say was always playing and smiling.Lorain firefighters say when they arrived at the house just after three Sunday morning, the fire spread so quickly the home was already engulfed in flames.Neighbors said they saw firefighters climb on the roof, trying desperately to get into the upstairs, but flames fought them back.Fire officials said the girl was found in the doorway of an upstairs bedroom.She was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital.Five other people inside the burning house escaped the fire. Neighbors said several of them are kids.
