Mangueira taught a history class at Sapucaí. it was an alternative story telling about black and Indian heroes of resistance, and not about traditional characters on the pages of the textbook. A wing with dancers, drums and other parts of the parade highlighted the rebellions and slave escapes. The front commission sought to deconstruct the image of historical figures such as Princess Isabel, Girl Scout Domingos Jorge Velho, Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca, Dom Pedro I and Pedro Álvares Cabral. Battles were recounted between Indians and Portuguese, with decimated tribes. One wing showed the Cariris Indians and their struggle to prevent the Northeast from being invaded in a conflict of more than 50 years. The fourth car told the story of Chico da Matilde. The black raft fought to prevent the embarkation of slaves in Ceará and was important for the abolition of slavery in the region. The following wings featured caricatures that mocked Pedro Álvares Cabral (presented as a convict) and Pedro I (mounted on a mule). Filled with giant books, Mangueira's fifth car symbolized "The Story That The Story Doesn't Tell," once again questioning the lessons taught in schools.
