Recently, Allegany Preservation Society Limited, in collaboration with renowned Author and Historian, Titus Swan, released the revamped and highly anticipated Documentary, “An Apparatus For Lunacy - A History of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum”. Our Documentary came "under fire", in the form of a myriad of empty threats and accusations pertaining to "our" version of the story. Reasons that defy logic and called into question the proper and best methods in preserving and presenting the true accounts of the people that lived and worked in this legendary institution. In response, we have produced this very poignant addendum to our Documentary that features new insights pertaining to locations, people, and the true stories of what has happened on the grounds of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. We hope you enjoy the video and if you like what you see, consider making a donation to the West Virginia State Hospital Initiative (WVSHI) and help support “Project Dignity”. The West Virginia State Hospital Initiative (WVSHI Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of West Virginia's state hospitals and advancing mental health care reform, with its branch, Riverstone Community Services, focusing on community impact through scholarships, essential needs assistance, and outpatient clinic development.
