This video features a full run down Blue Piste 63 (Zeigerspitze) in the Rastkogel sector of the Mayrhofen ski area. Situated high above the tree line, this wide, open bowl offers spectacular panoramic views and is a key connection point between the Penken/Horberg area through the Rastkogel plateau towards Eggalm mountain Key Run Stats: Resort: Mayrhofen (Zillertal, Austria) Sector: Rastkogel (connected to Penken/Horberg and Eggalm) Piste Number: 63 (Named "Zeigerspitze") Difficulty: Blue (Easy/Intermediate) Start Altitude: ~2,400 m (Top of Wanglspitz) End Altitude: ~1848 m (Base of Lämmerbichl / 6SB Wanglspitz) 2nd Start Altitude: ~2,290 m (Top of Lämmerbichl area) 2nd end Altitude: ~2,022 m (base of Horbergjoch 8 seater chairlift) Vertical Drop: ~552 m Approx. Length: ~1.3 km Average Gradient: ~18-20% (Gentle, open alpine terrain) Direction: West - South-west Lift Access: Served by the 6SB Wanglspitz and 8SB Horbergjoch lifts. From the Penken area you must ride the 150pax cable car the Pendelbahn, to the Wanglspitz. Run 63 is a classic high-alpine "motorway." As shown in the video, it sits well above the tree line, offering reliable snow conditions and sun exposure throughout the day. The Terrain: The slope is incredibly wide and forgiving, making it perfect for intermediates who want to practice carving large radius turns without fear of narrow edges. The Connection: It serves as a vital link in the "Zillertal 3000" glacier circuit. Many skiers use this run while transiting from the Horbergjoch (2,500m) towards the Rastkogel Bahn. Scenery: Because of its altitude, it offers some of the best unobstructed views of the Tuxertal valley and the surrounding Zillertal Alps. From the beginning of the run, you can see Eggalm mountain, and on the far end of the Tux valley, you can see the Hintertux Glacier. On 01:29 we ski in the fun park along the ski run. on 02:22 we cross the Rastkogelbahn. from 02:50 we ski along the Lämmerbichl 6 seater chairlift. from 03:30 we ski from the top of Lämmerbichl 6 seater towards the base of Horbergjoch 8 seater chairlift. Who Is This Run For? This is an ideal slope for mixed-ability groups. It is gentle enough for confident beginners but wide and fast enough for advanced skiers to enjoy high-speed carving. It is also a favourite for snowboarders due to the lack of flat spots and moguls. At the end of March, due to its sun exposure, it can be slushy.
