Kansas backroads aren’t exactly bustling with life, and Rice County might be the perfect example of that. From the fading railroad towns of Chase and Bushton to the “big city” of Lyons, I’m exploring what’s really out here—and why these places feel like they’re halfway to ghost town status. Oh, and did I mention there’s a UFO festival? Because, yeah, apparently aliens might be the only ones interested in visiting Geneseo. In this video, I take you through every corner of Rice County, Kansas, sharing its history, small-town quirks, and what life looks like today in places most people have never heard of. Spoiler: There’s not much traffic. 🏘️ Intro: 0:00 - 2:58 🚂 Chase: 2:58 - 5:42 🌾 Bushton: 5:42 - 8:05 🏚️ Frederick: 8:05 - 11:46 👽 Geneseo: 11:46 - 15:53 🏈 Little River: 15:53 - 17:56 🏦 Mitchell: 17:56 - 21:40 ⚖️ Lyons: 21:40 - 25:37 🎉 Raymond: 25:37 - 26:56 🐅 Alden: 26:56 - 29:06 🎷 Saxman: 29:06 - 30:22 🎓 Sterling: 30:22 - 37:24 Chris's Livability Score: 37:24 - 45:38 If you like small towns, forgotten places, and sarcastic commentary about rural America, hit that subscribe button. Seriously, it’s the only thing keeping me from moving to Frederick and becoming the 9th resident. Question for you: If aliens landed in Rice County, which one of these towns do you think they’d claim first—and why?
