Picking up the original route off the Mansfield & Pinxton Railway we follow this as far as the site of the former Bentinck Colliery with a brief look at a stretch of the Great Central Railway. We also find a lovely culvert and a bridge. Once around the other side of the colliery site things get even better, where trackbeds turn into track. Grass turns into rails.
