The' Little Whit Duck' is an old classic children's folk song that I still sing today with preschool and toddler children in my classroom. It was recorded first by Burl Ives back in the late 1940's early 1950"s “Little White Duck” I sing with preschool and toddler children. Duck/Pond/Water musical play sensory bin! This bin is perfect for “The Little White Duck', or any pond life theme. Of course, I don’t think you can find a white plastic duck; however, I would change it up by singing “A little yellow duck" sitting in the water. You will also need a plastic frog, snake, and bug. Cut lily pad shapes out of foam trays colored green with crayons or permanent green markers. Add plastic greens, sticks, and stones to the water. Sequencing activity Cut out a pond shape from blue or green construction paper. Cut out pictures or drawings of a white duck, green frog, black bug, and red snake. Have children place each in the “water’ as they appear in the song. Little White Duck Lyrics There's a little white duck sitting in the water A little white duck, doing what he oughter He took a bite of a lily pad Flapped his wings and he said, "I'm glad I'm a little white duck sitting in the water “Quack, Quack, Quack." There's a little green frog swimming in the water. A little green frog, doing what he oughter He jumped right off of the lily pad That the little duck bit, and he said, "I'm glad I'm a little green frog swimming in the water “Glump" Glump." Glump" There's a little black bug floating on the water A little black bug doing what he oughter He tickled the frog on the lily pad That the little duck bit, and he said, "I'm glad I'm a little black bug floating in the water “Chirp. Chirp, chirp”. There's a little red snake playing in the water A little red snake doing what he oughter He frightened the duck and the frog so bad He ate the little bug, and he said, "I'm glad I'm a little red snake playing in the water." “SSSSS’ “SSSSS” ‘SSSSSSS” Now, there's nobody left sitting in the water Nobody left doing what they oughter There's nothing left but the lily pad The duck and the frog ran away; it’s sad That there's nobody left sitting in the water, Boo! Hoo, Hoo...
