This video shows different ways to increase the pH in Aquaponic Systems using a few different substances. Some of which can be purchased from hardware/gardening stores and one new experimental way that is free and able to be made at home if you have access to firewood and have some sort of fire place. This new experimental method of raising pH in Aquaponic systems is using wood ash. Wood ash has been used in gardening and farming practices for many years as a fertiliser and to raise the pH of acidic soils. This video demonstrates the effect wood ash has on raising the pH of water, the different macro nutrient and micro nutrient elements found in wood ash, how this affects the Aquaponic system and how much to add to different volumes of water. I have been experimenting with wood ash to raise the pH in my Aquaponic system for a few months now and the results so far are looking very promising. I am always looking for cheap, natural and organic solutions to solve problems around the place and am a big believer in making the most of what you already have.
