If you like the video then like share comment & subscribe.❤️ Sultan Garhi Tomb in Delhi is India's first Islamic tomb, built by Sultan Iltutmish in 1231 AD for his son, Prince Nasiruddin Mahmud, featuring a unique underground, octagonal burial chamber with a fortress-like enclosure, blending Hindu and Islamic architecture with reused materials and serving as a revered shrine for both Hindus and Muslims today. Significance: It marks the beginning of mausoleum construction in India and showcases early Indo-Islamic architecture. History: Built for Prince Nasiruddin Mahmud (son of Iltutmish, brother of Razia Sultan) who died in Bengal, his remains were brought to Delhi for burial. Architecture: Fortress-like: Walled enclosure with corner bastions gives it a fortress appearance. Underground Chamber: An octagonal crypt sits beneath a raised platform, accessible by stairs, containing the graves. Materials: Uses Delhi quartzite, red sandstone, and marble, with calligraphy. Location: Situated in the Nangal Dewat Forest area of Vasant Kunj, South Delhi, near Mahipalpur. Restoration: Later repaired by Firoz Shah Tughluq.
