On April 13, 2020, the Colorado School of Public Health hosted a conversation about COVID-19 and the role that epidemiology is playing in informing policy to mitigate the outbreak. Speakers gave an overview of the pandemic and current numbers globally, nationally, and in Colorado, followed by a discussion of infectious disease modeling, the findings of COVID-19 models for Colorado (led by ColoradoSPH faculty and other CU faculty), and how the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) uses epidemiological data and modeling to address disease control, and inform broader state policy formulation. ________________________________________ Speakers: • Jonathan Samet, MD, MS, Dean & Professor – Colorado School of Public Health • Elizabeth Carlton, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor – ColoradoSPH Department of Environmental & Occupational Health • Rachel Herlihy, MD, MPH, Communicable Disease Branch Chief and State Epidemiologist – Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE)
