I implanted 210 ClearView 3 multifocal lens implants between April and October 2024. Initial results and patient satisfaction with the ClearView 3 were outstanding with most patient able to see far, mid and near without glasses and with excellent night vision. Unfortunately as we learned through the experience and feedback from our patients, 13% or 28 of the 210 multifocal lenses that I placed ultimately required intraocular lens exchange to enable patients with the clearview 3 lens to achieve satisfactory vision. The most common complaint that patients noticed with the clearview 3 lens was blurry, doubled or shadowed vision when reading up-close or looking at text on a screen. While 87% of patients achieved great visual results, we felt that the 13% patient dissatisfaction rate was too high and therefore elected to stop offering the clearview 3 lens to our patients.
