Aqua Jet consists of two main courses: "Novice Course (550cc)", aimed at beginner players, and "Expert Course (1110cc)", aimed at experienced ones. In both you play on the same racing track available but with course variation and different jump ramps. Starting in twelfth position, the only aim will be to get the best time by arriving first at the finish while overtaking the challengers in the race, in the fictional "Namco Mermaid Beach Cup". Compared to the standards of other racing video games, the finish line in this title is not placed inside the track itself, but at the end of the short stretch outside it, in fact, both the player in session and the opponents controlled by the computer cover a complete lap round trip.
