Agnus Dei - - A Venezia, il 12 agosto 1897, al termine di un Congresso Eucaristico, e probabilmente alla presenza del futuro san Pio X, avvenne la prima esecuzione della Missa Secunda Pontificalis, per coro a tre voci miste e organo. Tipica del Perosi “giovanile”, tale Messa esprime con chiarezza i tratti dell’identità musicale del compositore come delineati dall’organista e studioso Arturo Sacchetti: la cantabilità, la plasticità delle linee, la felicità dell’invenzione melodica, il connubio fonema-suono, la nobiltà degli accenti, il funzionale rapporto tra le voci e l’organo, quest’ultimo non umiliato a meri compiti di accompagnamento. Della Missa Secunda Pontificalis di don Perosi consigliabile è l’ascolto quantomeno del Kyrie. Il tema è semplice e a gradi congiunti. La sua immediatezza si accompagna a una buona dose di misticismo. Il carattere “popolare” di alcune melodie perosiane è del resto coerente con le idealità artistiche che il compositore esplicitò così: «Gli uomini del mio tempo non vogliono sentire il Vangelo; io li costringerò ad ascoltarlo in musica» (M. Brunetti, in http://blog.messainlatino.it/2017/08/...) - Venice, 12 August 1897: the first performance of the Missa Secunda Pontificalis, for three-part choir and organ, is held after an Eucharistic Congress and maybe at the presence of Giuseppe Sarto, the future pope Pius X. This mass, typical of the early perosian style, expresses with clarity the characteristics of the musical identity of this composer as described by the organist and conductor Arturo Sacchetti: cantability, sculptural quality of the melodies, flourishing of invention, union of phoneme and sound, refinement, functionality between the voices and the instrument, accompaniment and independent part at the same time. From the Missa Secunda Pontificalis is recommended at least the listening of the Kyrie: the theme is simple and proceeds step-by-step, by scales. His spontaneity is merged with mysticism.
