Steep & Rewarding: Schober to Frauenkopf Ridge Hike – Breathtaking Aerial Shots over Fuschlsee!

Another amazing day out with my mom! 🌞⛰️ We tackled the challenging loop to Schober (1.328m) and Frauenkopf (around 1.303m) between Thalgau and Fuschl am See in the beautiful Salzkammergut region of Salzburg, Austria. We started from the Wartfels parking lot (Forsthaus Wartenfels area) and went up the northwest side straight to Schober first. We skipped the Wartenfels ruins this time since we've visited them before. The trail is technically demanding – steep, rocky, with exposed sections secured by cables – so it's only for experienced hikers! In winter, crampons/spikes are an absolute must for safety on the icy parts. The loop is short but intense: Distance: ~3 km Elevation gain: ~430 meters Time: Quick but requires focus and surefootedness The real payoff? Jaw-dropping panoramic views from both summits over Fuschlsee, Mondsee, and beyond – and I got to launch my drone for some truly breathtaking aerial footage! Those shots capture the magic perfectly. A thrilling, rewarding hike with my mom – fresh air, adventure, and incredible scenery. If you're experienced and love a bit of challenge, this one's a gem... but respect the difficulty!
