I went to see the opening of the Cascadilla Gorge trail with other students and Professor Blalock. I listened to people who were influential to the rebuilding to the trail talk about the process and importance of the trail to Ithaca and its community. These people included Todd Bittner and Mayor Svante Myrick. This is the first time the entire trail is open to the public in years. Svante Myrick led everyone attending the opening on a walk along the newly opened trail. Getting to walk the trail along the gorge and enjoy the nature was relaxing and pleasant. It is a good place to go to take a break of the stress of daily life, and enjoy the beauty of the natural world. The new trail is sturdier and will last longer than the old trail, so it won’t have to be repaired as often. I’m glad that Ithaca decided to repair this trail and I look forward to returning to this trail again later.
