If you’re into URBEX and Urban Exploration then this is probably on your top 10 list and I made it the snow with my intrepid GIgi the Canine who’s better than James Bond! JN Adams was constructed between 1909-1912 for tuberculosis patients because of it’s location on 849 Acres in the hills above Buffalo By 1960 the State of New York was using it as a disability center and I think we can all guess how well that goes when New York State converts buildings to “help” people with disabilities and becomes another piece of the broken system and so by 1995 the Hospital such as it was? Abandoned. It’s decaying ruins are the most mystical I have encountered with the most impressive room I found to be what is often nicknamed the Dome room. Rumor has it that the stained glass (which btw is amazingly still intact) which is situated in what was once the dining hall is believed to be from the Temple of Music where President McKinley was assassinated September 6, 1901. Because the building wasn’t constructed until after the murder of the 25th President as we forgot that he was the 3rd President killed in office after Lincoln, and Garfield and then we got a 62 year break until John F. Kennedy. But these are the kinds of things I contemplate when I am Urban Exploring, and especially in the quiet of the snow alone. Oh I know the ghost stories and I believe them, and I did not have any encounters of the paranormal sort just a sort of feeling of heaviness, but when you’re intrepid companion is Canine? You can take a dog’s advice and step away from the rooms that have bad vibes. My stoke factor was so high just getting inside that my adrenaline was already pumping. For photographers? If this isn’t on your places to shoot before I die (I don’t go in for bucket list BS) but this is a can’t miss. I’ve been 3X and still haven’t seen everything so it’s a big amount of acreage and a lot of buildings so make a plan that you are going to spend some time. If you manage to get inside do not miss the dining hall which is in the center and takes a while to find. Any questions you can hit me up in the comments or check out my article about the place which is on my website www.tratitude.com You’re going to get into JN Adams? Better Travel with Attitude
