"Hot Dog" is the third film in animator Bill Plympton's acclaimed "Dog" series of shorts, released in 2008 after the success of Oscar-nominated short "Guard Dog" and the sequel film, "Guide Dog". In this film the canine tries to play hero once again and joins the fire department to save the world and try to get the affection that he deserves. But as usual, nothing ever turns out the way he plans, and he ends up doing more harm than good. "Hot Dog" premiered at the USA Film Festival Dallas in 2008, and then played at many other festivals, including the Seattle International Film Festival, the Annecy Animation Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Anima Mundi in Brazil, the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Hiroshima International Animation Festival, the London International Animation Festival, the Mill Valley Film Festival, the Aspen Film Festival and the Chicago International Film Festival. It won the Best Animation Award at Interfilm Short Film Festival Berlin, a Platinum Remi Award at Worldfest Houston, Best Short Film at London Children's Film Festival, Best Animation at the Maui Film Festival and the Big Island Film Festival in Hawaii, and Best Animated Short at the Roma Independent Film Festival.
