Your ability to insert a 14G can be critically important in many elective and emergency operations that require a massive transfusion or rapid fluid replacement. I would ideally insert a 14G cannula in many large operations such as liver resections, any open thoracic or sternotomy cases and anything where there is large volume blood loss (post partum haemorrhage, vessel rupture, trauma) I use the same techniques as described in my other videos but there is just less room for error!
