Chris Froome, Olympic medallist and two-time Tour de France Champion, visited the GSK Human Performance Lab on Monday 17th August for a series of comprehensive independent physiological and body composition assessments. During this year’s Tour De France, Chris gave an undertaking that he would carry out such tests and the visit marks the start of a partnership planned to support Chris through the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The purpose of the visit was for Chris to understand more about his body’s performance in order to use that science to measure and improve his progression, ultimately enabling him to remain at the top of his discipline. “Chris is really keen to get an external or independent assessment of his physiological capacity and performance. We’re able to provide exactly that – independent data,” said HPL R&D Director, Dr. Ken van Someren. The GSK Human Performance Lab will be submitting these and additional data for publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
