POST VIDEO DISCUSSION: The actual dimensions I am using are 44' each for the slanted wires and 50' for the bottom wire, which gives 138' total feet (@0.98 Vf). Suspension height is 40', bottom wire is 4' above the ground. If you use a different gauge wire with insulation, the velocity factor and length of the wire WILL change. The 141' is mostly valid only for bare CU wire. Still, I'd start a bit long, say 143' and trim down till you hit resonance on 40 meters around 7.125 MHz. Check the upper bands simultaneously while trimming! Depending on your site conditions and interactions with ground and surrounding terrain, your mileage may vary. Given the length of the wire, small cuts will not result in big changes in resonance, but keep tabs in any event as you cut and measure, analyze and scrutinize; lather, rinse, repeat. If you use a short coax run to your transmitter (under 50'), it is possible to run the antenna on other bands with smaller penalities in terms of losses due to high VSWR. In this video I go into more detail on my 40, 20, 15, and 10 meter delta loop. The final length of wire was 138', taking velocity factor into account. 1:1 Choke balun by N9SAB. 4:1 Balun by N9SAB. Wire is 22 AWG UL 1007, 300V, available off Amazon. Vf = 0.98. End Posts by Tractor Supply, 48" insulated electric fence push-in. Spiderbeam 12M (40') pole. Camera is a DJI Action 5 Pro. Microphone is a bluetooth DJI Mic Mini. Video assembled and edited by Microsoft Movie Maker (2012). This loop works like gangbusters. Reference Material is "Low Band DXing", by ON4UN (SK).
