Mississippi River Flooding Of Davenport Iowa By Drone

We took this drone footage of the flooding of Davenport Iowa at the highest point which was an all time record at 22.75 feet. The flooding was caused by multiple factors including a huge snow melt, weeks of heavy rains, and no permanent dedicated flood barriers even though there are floods here 2-4 times a year but to a much lesser degree. The barrier broke suddenly at Pershing and First Streets causing city workers to flee and is why you see so many cars submerged and businesses that look totally unprepared for the high water. Sorry for any jerky footage but it was windy and the currents between the buildings as well as the interference from rooftop cell towers made it a tricky flight. *We did get the permission from the local air traffic control for these flights as we did not want to interfere with any other aircraft in the area.* The speed at which the massive amount of water that is the Mississippi was moving was in itself an amazing and awesome sight and reminder that mother nature rules, it was much much more awesome in person but I hope we were able to give you a feel for it in this video.
