With Season 2 not being released until 2021, HBO have decided to make the delay a little bit more bearable and the creative team have got together to bring us a two part special that is airing early on HBO Max. There will be Heavy Spoilers here so if you haven't had a chance to check out the episode yet then I highly recommend that you turn off now. I know this aired early on HBO Max so if you're waiting for it's tv appearance then it's probably best to turn off whilst you still can. If you're still here then thank you for choosing this video, now let's get into the breakdown. Incase you need a quick recap, Season One primarily followed Rue and Jules as they tried to have a relationship. The pair decided to up sticks and flee to another town but at the trainstation, Rue had a change of heart. After losing her father she didn't want to put her family through any more trauma and thus decided to stay whiles Jules left her. It was revealed that Rue's hoody actually belonged to her father and we watched as she took somewhat of a trip down memory lane that made her break her sobriety. This caused her to relapse to what can only be described as a complete banger and many questions remained over her fate. Now as a whole you have to remember that Euphoria very much works metaphorically on a number of levels and thematically there are several choices that the creative team take in order to truly symbolise how things for an addict can be. The ending of Season One was very bombastic, over the top and shot to resemble a music video as when you're high that's what it can often feel like. And you should see my dance moves, nah but really as a TV show it almost tried to make you feel like you were going through what the characters were and that's very much the case in this episode. Now I have seen it criticised as being too boring and not really filled with the glitter, over the top long stares and splashes of neon that we were used to with the first season. However, I think that's exactly the point. This episode is filled with the character almost hating herself for going back to the thing that controls her life and this detest is supposed to be symbolic of what addicts actually go through. We open with what appears to be a flash forward of the life that Jule and Rue would have had. This fantasy shows the pair in an idylicc New York and even just the drab conditions quickly changing to sunshine hint that something could be off. Rue showers Jules with kisses and we learn the latter has a presentation at fashion school. It's everything they dreamed of and it seem like the pair have finally found their happiness. However this is Euphoria so obviously that isn't the case and we watch as this fantasy falls apart when Rue starts scrambling around for another high as soon as Jules lieaves the apartment.
