This ruling follows an eight-year legal battle led by paediatrician Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh, who argued that these high-sugar drinks mislead consumers, particularly parents, and pose health risks to children. The court's order offers temporary relief to JNTL, which challenged the sudden ban, but public health advocates and Dr. Santosh are strongly urging the FSSAI to move quickly to enforce strict compliance to protect consumer safety.
