There's a certain feeling that comes in the wake of tragedy. This frantic need to do something... anything... While knowing that there's nothing to do. The event cannot be undone and the aftermath has yet to arrive. So there you sit in this screaming stillness waiting for tears that will not come... and so you dive into the hardest, most all consuming games you can find in a mad dash toward the oblivion of complete concentration. Keep building. Keep optimizing. Keep working. because outside of the light of creation, there is only darkness. Recently, this was me. My step-brother died in a hiking accident. In the wake of that, I found myself playing Factorio and Satisfactory. I was building, enlarging the factory with an obsessive energy in order to try not to think about what had happened... feeling okay only as long as I never had to stop. I built, expanding wildly without plan or purpose because I wasn't just building a factory in a video game, I was creating a scab over an open wound in the only way I could. So this song goes out to everyone out there using these games to hold back the darkness. Whatever your pain, it does get better. Just take things one day at a time, use whatever gives you that happiness that you need to keep going. Things do get better.
