"Growing up, I was never really sure of myself. I knew that I was different but at that point of time, I refused to address it to not only my family, but myself as well. And I was feeling certain things, certain ways that were alien to me. I didn’t know how or why, but I knew that I was not a normal boy like all my other friends at school. Being referred to as gay in the past, it did have a negative affect on me and it did upset me. But now that I’m out and open about it, that word “Gay” no longer has that negative affect on me. It no longer has that power to hurt me because I have accepted who I am and I’m not ashamed of who I am."
