Guiding us through this flavourful neighbourhood is John, a content creator, along with his friend who helped us discover some of the local favourites. Our first stop was Ganesh Snacks Stall where we picked up bhunja and fritters for iftari. Ganesh ji, who is originally from Bihar, has built a loyal following here. We also joined a group that had gathered for iftar, soaking in the warmth and spirit of the moment. Next we headed to Halal Darbar Biryani where the menu reflects a fusion of Indian and Afghani culinary traditions. Here we tried their dumdar biryani along with Afghani samosa and bolani made by Ali, John’s friend. We also sampled a delicious fish tikka. After that we visited Inshaan Ali Roti Wale and picked up three kinds of popular breads that pair beautifully with rich curries. Our next stop was Anam Biryani Hut, a place known for its range of curries and biryani. We tried seekh kebab and the flavourful chicken kali mirch nahari. At Eshan Pakori Wala we took a sweet break with kheer and meetha samosa. Then we stopped by MD Ahmed Parathe Wale for a comforting anda paratha. We also visited Baba Khajoor Shop where Kafeel bhai offered us some of the best dates and dry fruits. Our last stop was Xam Zam Sweets where we had chhena toast. The shop serves a wide variety of sweets and was a perfect way to end this hearty food walk through Hauz Rani.
