Susan Pahadi, Kathmandu’s own “rhythmic architect,” has forged a unique presence in Nepal’s contemporary music scene by blending traditional Nepali percussive elements with rock, funk, jazz, and experimental fusion. A winner of the First Drum Off 2016 organized by Tone Music, his dynamic grooves have driven live performances for top Nepali acts like AD The Balladeer and Samir Stha. Under mentorship from Nikhil Tuladhar at the Nepal Music Centre and earning early praise from legendary drummer Dev Rana, he honed a style that resonates through the free YouTube lessons, drum clinics, and immersive workshops he hosts to nurture emerging percussionists across the country. Currently based in China—performing at venues such as Liang Yuan Live Music Bar and Kempinski—Susan is recording original tracks while preparing to establish his own Kathmandu studio upon his return. His passionate performances and forward-thinking spirit continue to elevate Nepal’s rhythmic landscape, inspiring drummers nationwide.
