You will learn how to break down any service offering into its three core components: Goods: The transfer of ownership of physical or virtual resources to a consumer. A key point for a CDS professional is understanding that once a 'good' (like a new laptop or mobile phone) is supplied, the responsibility for its future use transfers to the consumer. Access to Resources: The granting of permission for a consumer to use resources where ownership is not transferred. This includes access to the corporate network, software licences, or cloud storage, where the provider retains control and responsibility. Service Actions: The specific activities a provider performs for a consumer. You will learn to distinguish between proactive actions (like system backups and antivirus updates) and activities that the consumer can formally request (like technical support). The Service Relationship Model: Value is co-created through the ongoing interactions between a service provider and a service consumer. You will learn to identify and define the three key activities that constitute this relationship: Service Relationship Management: The joint activities performed by both the provider and consumer to ensure they are continuously co-creating value. Service Provision: The activities performed by the provider's organisation to supply services, including managing their resources and fulfilling service actions.
