Reactions from partcipants of our Age-Friendly AI Workshops

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes more and more present in our lives, the Age-Friendly AI initiative recently hosted a series of discussion workshops across Ireland, engaging older adults in conversations about the evolving role of AI. The discussions focused on these three main topics: 1. AI in Healthcare: We explored the potential for AI to imrpove diagnostics and support independent living. 2. Misinformation & Disinformaiton: We discussed the importance of taking the following steps before trusting online information: "Stop, Think, Check" (Be Media Smart Campaign, MLI, https://www.bemediasmart.ie/) 3. AI Shopping Recommendations: We explored how the use of personal information results in personalised shopping recommendations. Following the workshops, participants shared their insights in short interviews. They talked about their motivations for joining the workshop, their firsthand experiences with AI technology, and what they benefitted from the Age-Friendly AI workshops.
