The Last EMR VP185 HST Passenger Service! With 43047 & 43049 11th December 2020

In this video we witness the end of an era for the Midland Mainline as we bid farewell to the blue Paxman VP185 HSTs filmed at Chesterfield. The VP185s were created to be a more efficient version of Paxmans Valenta engine and have been a great success in service. A number of Class 43s were fitted with these engines in 1995 and most HSTs on the MML were fitted with them replacing the Valentas From 1995 until 2020 the VP185 HSTs have been screaming along the MML making a fine and unforgettable sight indeed! The final service with these wonderful machines was the 1F70 20:01 London St Pancras International to Leeds with powercars, 43047, the first HST powercar to be fitted with the VP185 engine with a nameplate to celebrate 25 years in service of the VP185s on the MML 'Powered By Paxman VP185' & 43049 Neville Hill. This was a very emotional occasion for myself as I have grown up watching these HSTs on the MML since I was a young boy, they will deeply be missed. 11th December would also mark the end of service with EMR for the Angel Trains buffered powercar HSTs, a video on this will be uploaded on a later date. Thank you for everything VP185 HSTs, you will never be forgotten! The MML will never be the same without you!
