The media and news say travel to Haiti in 2025 is too dangerous — that the entire country is overrun with gangs, poverty, and chaos. But is that really the whole story? In this video, I decided to find out for myself. Like most travelers, I’ve heard about the violence and instability crisis in Port-au-Prince. The capital has suffered tremendously, and many parts are simply unsafe. But I learned that Haiti’s second-largest city, Cap-Haïtien, is a completely different world. What I found in Cap Haitien shocked me... Yes, there’s poverty, trash in Cap-Haïtien, but it’s nowhere near the chaos shown on TV. The streets were full of energy — kids playing, vendors shouting, people laughing. I wandered through the open-air markets, I ate haitian street food, and stood out like a sore thumb, yet everyone I met was kind and curious about why I was there. From there, I explored Haiti’s proudest landmarks: 🏰 The Citadelle Henri Christophe - a massive fortress high in the mountains and one of the most impressive historical sites in the entire Caribbean. 🏛️ The Sans-Souci Palace - once the seat of Haiti’s first king and now a haunting, beautiful ruin that tells the story of the world’s first Black republic. After soaking in the history, I went to Labadee Beach — but not the private, Royal Carribean cruise ship side most foreigners see. I went with locals to the real Labadee, where Haitian families swim, dance, and cook right by the water. It was stunning — untouched and full of life. To end the day, I did something I never expected: I went out at night on The Boulevard, the main strip in Cap-Haïtien. My guide told me I didn’t even need him — that I could walk around safely on my own. That blew my mind after everything I’d heard about Haiti. This trip completely changed my perception of the country. Haiti is struggling, yes — but it’s also proud, resilient, and beautiful. Cap-Haïtien showed me a side of Haiti that deserves to be seen. ⚠️ Important Note: The safety situation in Haiti changes frequently.
