Here are some highlights of its history: Construction The KVR was commissioned in 1929 and was one of the last narrow gauge lines built in India. The 110 km (68 mi) section between Pathankot and Nagrota was completed on December 1, 1928, and opened for freight transportation. Route The KVR is a single line of 2' 6" gauge and crosses 950 ornate bridges. It reaches heights of nearly 4,000 ft at the Ahju station. Popularity The KVR is popular with nature lovers and religious crowds. Features The KVR has two tunnels, the Dhurdni, 254 ft. long, and the Daulatpur, 1,000 feet long.
