When you're in a climbing gym you're going to see most of the climbers using chalk. Chalk is something that helps absorb all the moisture that's on your hands to keep them nice and dry. It gives you better grip. Makes the whole skill a little bit better. So, one thing to know about when using chalk is how to carry it. So right now, I have a chalk bag clipped around my waist with a chalk belt. Another option might be to get a carabiner and clip it to your harness. I like to use a chalk belt because it allows me to slide the chalk bag around in case I'm doing a certain move or maneuver where I might want the chalk on a difference side of my body. It also makes it a little bit easier to get on and off. When I'm going to get some chalk out of my bag, I'm not actually taking the chalk out. I'm just kind of swishing my hand around inside the bag to get a little bit of a coating. I'll do that with both hands. And before I climb it's a good idea, as well, to kind of rub off some of the excess. You can even blow it off if you want to look stylish and French And that's the basics for how to chalk up when climbing.
