Govt Mandates Domestic LPG Priority | West Asia War Escalates |Mojtaba Khamenei | India Today Global

Amid the escalating West Asia war, the Indian government has mandated all oil marketing companies including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum to prioritise domestic household cooking gas supply. Hotels in several cities including Bengaluru and Mumbai have flagged LPG gas shortage as companies act on the directive. The hospitality and manufacturing sectors could face supply hits while the government ensures domestic supplies remain unaffected. The government has also changed LPG booking rules, increasing the intervening time for consecutive bookings from 21 days to 25 days to curtail hoarding. Most of India's LPG supply comes from Gulf nations, and long-term gas supply contracts with countries like Qatar are being impacted by the ongoing conflict.
