Located near Tsung Tsai Yuen at Tai Po Kau, the "Ghost Bridge," also known as "Angry Water Bridge," is infamous for a tragic incident that occurred on August 28, 1955. A group of teachers and students, along with relatives of employees from the Kowloon-Canton Railway, were enjoying outdoor activities at Tsung Tsai Yuen. While some were swimming in the downstream area known as "Ghost Lake," a sudden downpour created a swift current, causing many to vanish in the raging waters. In total, the incident claimed the lives of 28 people, leading to persistent ghost stories surrounding the bridge. To commemorate and honor the victims, the Tai Po Tsat Yeuk Rural Committee erected a stone tablet at the bridge to memorialize this tragedy. However, due to years of neglect, most of the inscription has faded. With the assistance of Mr. Man Sau Keung , a descendant of the Man family from Tai Hang Village, Tai Po, the monument was finally restored, with a ceremonial reopening scheduled for January 3, 2025. May the souls of the departed find peace. #TheHotungStory #何東故事 #SeanHotung #MaryHotung #GhostBridge #TaiPo #HauntingTales #AngryWaterBridge #GhostStories #Memorial #LostSouls #Restoration #TaiPoHistory #HonoringVictims
