Conquering the Arctic Circle: Ski Touring Adventure

Another week, another type of skiing, and this time it’s ski touring! Known as randonee skiing in Norwegian, ski touring is skiing in the backcountry on unmarked / unpatrolled areas. We took to Lofoten, in the Arctic Circle in Northern Norway, to test our brand new ski touring equipment and experience the beauty of skiing mountains with views of the fjords. Skiing in norway is simple very accessible. Back country skiing combines the physical test of walking up the mountain, with the adrenaline and excitement of skiing back down again. Lofoten, Norway is famous for its dramatic mountains and fjords, and what better way to experience this than from the top of a snow covered mountain. Due to the nature of ski touring, it is a high risk activity, and it is therefore always advisable to go with a guide if you are inexperienced, and always take the necessary precautions and equipment.
