This trip took place during 8th to 10th of July 2025. As such all the details provided are relevant to this time period only. Please do the necessary research before travelling internationally. Normal indian network and sims will not work in Bhutan. Please keep that in mind. Ask your network provider for alternate options and packages for international trips. We went to Gelephu in Bhutan via Bongaigaon in Assam. About 300 m before reaching the international border, we had to register our vehicle at the BSF checking point. Here, the driver’s license and the vehicle’s RC were needed. At the main border checking, the following documents were needed: 1. Under 24 hours trip Mention the duration of your trip. If it is under 24 hours, you do not need any special tourist permit. Voter ID, passport, or Aadhaar card will be accepted. You can only travel to Serzhong Gewog bridge. If you want to travel further, you will need a special permit that can be created only during the entry into Bhutan. For travel beyond this bridge, she will also need a guide. 2. Trip for more than 24 hours if your Bhutan trip is for more than 24 hours, please mention that while the entry entry procedure is going on. If you do not mention this, when you come back and try to exit from Bhutan, you will have to pay a fine of ₹6650 per person. On top of that, you will have to pay ₹215 for every day that exceeds the 24 hour. For making the special tourist permit, only the voter ID and passport is accepted. If you decide to travel beyond the Serzhong Gewog bridge, you will need a guide, and a special permit. After this point, you will also need to pay an amount for your personal vehicle, on a per day basis. Also ensure that there is a seat for the guide in your vehicle. NOTE: I have shared the rules that were present during the time when I went on the trip. Please understand that rules may be changed by the Bhutan government at any moment. As such, please make your personal research before going to Bhutan. Hotel details: Hotel Kingacholing +975 17849976 ( WhatsApp) This was a family trip and it was four of us. So we stay in a twin bedroom. Charge was ₹1850 per night. Breakfast not included. Also, there are many hotels in the market, so don’t be worried if you don’t get any booking here.
