Phillip Daffara: Futurist & Architect Bio: Phillip Daffara is a registered architect, urban designer and professional futurist advocating ecological design and the role of cities as catalysts for the development of planetary civilisation. His expertise includes urban futures and adaptation to megatrends; sustainable architecture, urban design thinking and city making; and collaborative community and stakeholder consultation and visioning. Phillip comes from a family of farmers, which explains why he is passionate about nurturing ideas like social seeds within a planet of possibilities. As a child he was deeply influenced by the Parable of the Sower: the notion that ideas can either grow and proliferate or wither and die. As a result, whether he is practicing architecture, placemaking, teaching or research and writing, Phillip draws upon the axiom that we create our own reality, which is 'farmed' through careful words, design intentions and synergistic action. Title: Holistic and Sacred Spaces Synopsis: As an architect and futurist, Phillip believes space is a fundamental of life that is often taken for granted. To use an analogy, space to people is like water to fish. It is the medium in which we dwell. Phillip will talk about holistic and sacred spaces. What are they and their importance in this age, particularly explaining the relationship between dwelling, thinking and building. Phillip claims that sacred spaces serve to remind us of who we are and our purpose for dwelling on Earth within the Kosmos.
