BIFoR in a box (BiB) activity provides schools with the equipment and instructions to measure tree growth using Dendrometers over a period of time. Through this link schools will be able to share their data with other schools projects to develop across the region and beyond. This short video explains how to measure install a band onto a tree so incremental tree growth measurements can be taken. It is a more reliable measurement of tree growth (than repeated measurements of diameter/circumference) as the band is always in the same position and as a tree is not always perfectly symmetrical measuring the diameter of a tree at different parts even at the exact same height, leads to differences in readings.
