Please grab a glass of wine or cup of coffee and spend a half hour on this musical tour of Relais & Châteaux's Domaine du Le Mas de Pierre Hôtel Resort & Spa in Saint Paul de Vence, France, a 5 Star Côte d'Azur luxury property and gastronomic restaurant, La Table de Pierre. Nestled in a residential village, an easy drive to the Mediterranean Sea, Cannes, Antibes and Monaco, it is premier lodging, a curated museum, sensory garden and culinary masterpiece in the South of France. Contrary to what Americans might think, Le Mas de Pierre is not about a man but a rock. Literally translated it means The Stone Farmhouse. And table is as familiar as it looks but is pronounced "tab-leh". Among other languages, this highly cultured staff speaks English fluently so if your French is lacking, you will be cared for well (and in good company). We've been staying at Le Mas de Pierre since France relaxed the Covid "Restez Chez Vous" in summer of 2020 (thus the occasional mask) so this is 5 years worth of photos and videos taken on an iphone. We are regular guests so this is how the hotel looks to everyone. There are no crews clearing and lighting sets or staging food and no one knows who we are or that we are making a video. I edit them myself on iMovie, purposefully not perfect, gently showing you a place in the world for an escape either physically or momentarily. There is lots of food! This is France. Breakfast is leisurely and plentiful. Brunch is astoundingly delicious served in season on the patio. The seafood buffet is one of many parties through the year. As a former caterer, the open kitchen is a special treat for me. In warm weather, the brilliance of the open air with the curtains blowing in the breeze is nothing short of glorious. As happens in hospitality, the culinary team changes, of course, but in all our visits, many faces have stayed the same and we are always received warmly. If the entire world would behave the way the professional staff does at Le Mas de Pierre and be cared for as lovingly and expertly, I cannot imagine how wonderful it would be. Much of that credit must to go General Manager Audrey Jorge. In all our hotel stays over many years around the world, rarely do we have any idea who is the General Manager. I see Madame Jorge on every visit somewhere on property and I am no one at this hotel and yet, each time she sees me, I am acknowledged with a wave or smile. This is astounding to me.
