Band patriarch Del McCoury has impeccable traditional credentials, including an early-'60s stint with Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass, a 2010 National Heritage Fellowship, and 2011 induction into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame. But the Grammy-winning singer/guitarist who personifies the "High Lonesome" sound also takes it to new frontiers playing with everyone from jam band Phish to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
