Fire Incident at CRPF Barracks, Banquet Hall Srinagar – Fire Under Control Srinagar: A fire broke out at around 11:39 PM in the single-storied CRPF barracks and store rooms of 246 Battalion CRPF, deployed near Banquet Hall, Srinagar. The fire call was received at State Fire Headquarters Control Room at 11:39 PM, following which an immediate first turnout was dispatched from Fire Station Gowkadal. Simultaneously, fire tenders from F&ES Headquarters were also rushed to the spot. Upon reaching the site, it was found that a single-storey concrete CRPF barrack and adjoining store rooms were fully engulfed in flames. Firefighting operations were started immediately. Considering the proximity of the affected structure to a nearby church, additional reinforcement in the form of two water boozers from F&ES Headquarters was deployed to prevent the spread of fire. After intense firefighting efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control. However, the CRPF barracks sustained extensive damage. Cooling operations are currently underway to prevent any re-ignition. The firefighting operation was led by DFO Headquarters Muzaffar Ali Bhat, under the supervision of Deputy Director Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, with Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah coordinating the response. As per preliminary assessment, the cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit. Meanwhile, Paul Singh Siwal, Commandant, 75 Battalion CRPF, appreciated the Fire & Emergency Services personnel for their professionalism, prompt response, and bravery during the intense firefighting operation. Further investigation into the incident is underway
