With Oneida recently ranked as the #2 ice fishing destination in the US, the pressure is high—meaning you need to stay mobile to stay on the bite. We head out to the deep-water structure and submerged shoals (targeting 25–40 feet) to show you exactly how many holes we drill, how long we stay in one spot, and the ice fishing electronics (especially the Garmin Livescope) that tell us it’s time to move. We share our lure choices and go over some of the basics of a good presentation to put some of these finicky walleye on the ice. Current conditions show approximately 5–10 inches of solid ice across much of the lake, though shoreline ice remains variable so spudding your way out is important.
